The Philadelphia Flyers started the first of a back-to-back in style, taking down the New York Rangers on home ice Friday afternoon. The Flyers have had their fair share of struggles against the Rangers, but this game showed they can compete with anyone.

Bobby Brink gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead just 3:14 into the first period. Tyson Foerster would set him up with a centering pass after winning a puck battle along the boards against Adam Fox. Foerster picked up the lonely assist.

Travis Konecy gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead 4:24 into the first period as team captain Sean Couturier sent him in on goal with a nice pass in center. Konecny got around Jacob Trouba and went five-hole on Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin. Couturier and Ristolainen collected assists.

The Rangers would get on the board 10:18 into the second period as Vincent Trocheck's wrist shot from the slot beat Flyers goaltender Ivan Fedotov. Scott Laughton had no stick and Trocheck took advantage. This made the score 2-1 Flyers. Cuylle and Schneider tallied assists.

The Flyers got the games only Power Play as Brenden Smith got called for holding at the 6:20 mark of the third period. They wouldn't capitalize on the opportunity and only managed to get one shot on net.

Konecny put the game away for the Flyers as he scored an empty-net goal 19:32 into the third period. This gave the Flyers a 3-1 lead. Sanheim picked up the lonely assist.

The Flyers went 0 for 1 on the Power Play and only managed to get one shot on net. Their Power Play continues to regress.

Fedotov was solid for the Flyers as he stopped 22 of 23 shots which gave him a .957 save percentage for the game.
